This is the tool for removing the steering rack with METRIC mounting bolts.Originally all pre 1989 cars had a steering rack with rectangular mounting feet that attached directly to the subframe with UNF bolts.In 1989 the steering racks were changed and had oval mounting feet. These racks were subsequently supplied for all pre 1989 cars but required a pair of mounting brackets between the rack and subframe attached with metric bolts.This tool is therefore suitable for pre 1989 model year cars that have been fitted with a post 1989 style steering rack with oval mounting feet and a fitting kit.You will need to use your own socket as this is purely an extension..
